At Jesselton Medical Centre (JMC) we pride ourselves in providing excellent health care. In tune with this objective, our cardiology unit is now equipped to perform a wide range of Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory (NICL) and Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory (ICL) procedures.
For more information, please visit Cardiac Services.
The Emergency & Trauma Department is well-equipped to handle any accident and emergency situation on a 24-hour basis. A Resident Medical Doctor and his team of nurses are stationed 24-hour while an Emergency & Trauma Specialist is on duty during office hours and can be called at any time during off-hours if required.
JMC collaborates with Clinipath Laboratory to provide high-quality medical laboratory services. The laboratory participates in external quality assurance programmes with Australia and United Kingdom covering clinical point of care testing; clinical chemistry; haematology and immunoassays; cytopathology; and histopathology.
A dietitian is an expert in food and nutrition that promotes good health through proper eating. They also supervise the preparation and service of food, develop modified diets, participate in research, and educate individuals and groups on good nutritional habits. Our dietitian can assist you in making proper food choices and provide you with the knowledge and skills that you need according to your health conditions.
Smart Terminals have been installed for use at the patient bedside. Manufactured using anti-bacterial plastics, these terminals provide a host of interactive healthcare applications such as providing secure access to Electronic Medical Records (EMR); as well as innovative triple-play solutions (web, IPTV, VoIP) for patient entertainment.
An Echocardiogram uses sound waves to produce images of your heart. This test is commonly being carried out as to allow your doctor to see how your heart is beating and pumping blood. Your doctor can use the images from the echocardiogram to identify various abnormalities in the heart muscles and valves.
Treadmill Stress Test (Exercise Stress Test) is a test for the diagnosis of Coronary Diseases by exercising to induce symptoms. It is also used to identify the patient exercise capacity. Doctor may recommend an exercise stress test if they suspect you have Coronary Artery Disease or an irregular heart rhythm (Arrhythmias). The test may also use to guide your treatment if you’re already been diagnosed with a heart condition.
Holter is a portable device for continuously monitoring various electrical activity of the heart activity. It can also be used for monitoring brain activity. Its extended recording period useful for observing occasional cardiac arrhythmias or epileptic events which would be difficult to be identified in a shorter period of time.
24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) is just the same as a normal blood pressure check. The machine is small which then can be attached to a belt around your waist while the cuff stays on your upper arm for the full 24 hours. There are couple of reasons why a Doctor might suggest this:
The Aquilion One family implements an array of adaptive and integrated dose reduction strategies. These strategies are implemented at every stage of the scanning process starting from patient registration through to data acquisition. It is one of the most revolutionary and advanced scanners and only a handful of these machines are available in Malaysia and the region.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to investigate the anatomy and physiology of the body in both health and disease. These scanners use strong magnetic fields and radio-waves to form images of the body. The technique is widely used in hospitals for medical diagnosis, staging of disease and for follow-up without exposure to ionizing radiation.
Ultrasound imaging is also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, a method of obtaining images from inside the human body through the use of high frequency sound waves. The reflected sound wave echoes are converted into a visual image and displayed live on a screen. No radiation (x-ray) is involved in ultrasound imaging.
Uses X-rays to obtain real-time moving images of the internal structures of a patient. In its simplest form, a fluoroscope consists of an x-ray source and fluorescent screen between which a patient is placed. The screen is coupled to an X-ray image intensifier and CCD video camera allowing the images to be recorded and displayed on a monitor and recorded.
Our Audiology department provides hearing healthcare to patients of all ages (children, adults, and the aging population). We offer a full range of hearing tests, including infant and industrial hearing screening. Newborn hearing screening enables the early detection of hearing problems and can help minimise delays in a child’s ability to learn language. We also offer rehabilitation with hearing aids.
Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy aims to help those who are temporarily or permanently disabled to achieve maximum independence. It is well-equipped to treat a variety of conditions for in-patients and out-patients. Various electrotherapy treatment as well as manual techniques and exercises are applied accordingly.
Endoscopy is a procedure using a lighted, flexible instrument introduced through a natural body opening to examine the insides of the body. JMC is equipped to handle various procedures including: Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), Endoscopic Stenting, Endoscopic Dilatation, and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG).
